I knew this had to be hard for her, and once again I marvelled at her determination. I tried to sit as lightly as possible to make it easier for her, but there was only so much I could do. She picked up speed, and I didn't even flinch. I felt her muscles tense and stretch under me, and I wished she wouldn't push herself like this. I held my bag in my lap, also wishing I had put less in it, for Cassidy's sake. If she got too tired, I resolved, I would make her stop carrying me and walk the rest of the way.

Cassidy: I slowed down a little, knowing if I did to much damage I'd either be stuck as a wolf till it healed, or my wolf body would give out and I'd change back. Which would make things really awkward and embarrassing. So I was determined for that not to happen. I slowed further, when the trees became closer together. I wasn't able to concentrate enough to go fast through here. I'd crash into a tree.

(I'm tempted to make her find a wolf pup, don't know why)

I heard her breath start to come out in huffs that shook her whole body. "Stop," I said. "You're going to hurt yourself if you keep going like this."

"Why wouldn't I care to talk to you?" I asked, a bit confused. I couldn't figure this guy out. At first he acted so aloof, then so servile. Who bowed like that any more? Perhaps he was an ancient, like me, and had lived here in isolation for so long that he didn't know about the customs of today. "You seem like a nice enough person to me. I'm Viveka, by the way, but most people - who know me well - call me Viv. Not that there are many of those anymore." There was a noise from upstairs and a couple came out of a room, laughing and talking. When they saw me talking to the guy, they giggled and pointed. Why were they doing that?

Cassidy: I ignored him and kept running. I was good for a little longer. I would have to stop soon though. My legs started shaking, so I slowed down a but more. Still determined not to stop. But then I heard something, that made me skid to a sudden stop. I turned towards the sound, my ears pricked up and forwards.

Finally, she was stopping. Quickly, I slid off her back before she could start running again. Her sides were heaving, but she appeared to be listening intently to something. I listened, too, but couldn't hear anything. "What are you listening to?" I asked in a whisper.
