I heard the girl talking to me, and slowed in putting on my sealskin. So they weren't going to stick me in a zoo or give me to scientists for testing or whatever? Then I shook my head. It was probably a trick. I pulled the sealskin over my head and finished my transformation. A fully-grown seal lay on the bath mat.

I followed Erin through the now open door. "Carrie?" She wasn't here. I walked over to the note and picked it up, "What's this?" I asked, handing it to Erin.

My brain buzzed. She was an immortal? So she wouldn't give me up. I came out of my skin enough to say, "Do you have some clothes I could wear?"

I looked at the note. "two options, she's dead? Or she ran away? I don't know but judging by this?" I gestured to myself . "she made a deal with death." Wind blew in from the window. My eyes watered. But I willed myself to stay strong. "so what now? What do we tell te detectives?"
