I had been watching the skateboard boy from afar, as I had moved back into the forest a little when he found it. I was happy I had been able to help even in the slightest, as it was my fault in the first place that he took off, leaving it behind. I heard someone climbing the tree and I had thought about running off, but I was just a small blackbird, they probably wouldn't notice me. However, I was proved wrong when the boy in question pulled out a sketchbook along with a pencil. I looked at him as he started to draw me. I decided I'd stay still for him, letting him finish his artwork. I suppose it's not something a small bird would do, normally they'd fly away, feeling threatened I suppose. When he seemed to have finished I chirped a little bit and started to hop towards him, wishing to see the picture.

Ok, so I kind of felt like the bird was intelligent. I dunno, but as soon as I started drawing it, the little guy went still. At first I thought it had spotted me and was debating flying away from the threat, so I stopped drawing, but then I realized that he wasn't going anywhere, which was kinda weird, so I continued to draw. What was even weirder was that as soon as I put my pencil down, it spoke up and started moving toward me, towards a threat; since when did any animal on this planet move towards a threat?! "Uhh, hi there, little guy." I greeted the bird awkwardly as it moved closer. "You, uh, you wanna see what I drew?" Showing the bird the picture, I was greeted with a disapproving growl in my mind which caused me to tense up. 'What on earth are you doing, boy? You look like a fool, talking to that animal as if it understands you!' Calvador snarled. I swallowed a lump in my throat, terrified of the menacing voice and worried he'd do something to the bird. "W-Well, its just... I-It seems I-I dunno... Smart?" I answered timidly. 'Animals are not intelligent! Animals cannot understand humans! Stop acting like a child and get some common sense!' A loud roar echoed throughout my mind, causing me to jump and accidentally knock the sketchbook off of my lap, along with the pencil. It happened so quickly that for a moment I just watched it fall to the floor wide-eyed, and then when I realized that it had landed on the dirty floor, my mind kicked into gear. "Crap!" I exclaimed, climbing down the tree as fast as I could, which wasn't very fast at all - I could climb up, but I sucked at climbing down - desperately hoping the sketch wasn't ruined.

When he showed me the drawing I flapped my wings with another chirp, showing him I liked it. He was really talented. It looked like the sketchbook held other things, and I so wished to see them. The boy started to talk to himself, not to me, and then jumped at nothing which worried me and dropped the book. It landed in a patch of work, and I really hop his work was still alright, it would be such a waste. His pencil fell as well. I knew I couldn't pick up the sketchbook as a blackbird. I could however, get his pencil, which I did. I took off to pick it up and landed next to the book and placed it next to it. I felt like I should change into my human form, so I could actually speak to him, but it might spook him and I didn't want to do that, so I stayed put next to the book, waiting for him to finish climbing down - quite awkwardly, if I could say so.

By the time I had reached the bottom, the bird was by my sketchbook, placing my pencil down next to it. O...k... So it stayed still for a drawing, came closer when it was done, acted excited, and then retrieved my fallen pencil. "This- It can't just be a coincidence." I spoke to the demon, receiving a warning snarl in return which sent shivers down my spine. "B-But come on, no normal bird would do this, r-right?" My only response was a muttering of 'Imbecile' so I focused on retrieving my stuff. Slowly grabbing my pencil, I said, "Thanks, little guy." to the bird, then carefully picked up my sketchbook, brushing the dirt off of the page to the best of my ability. Smudges of brown remained, causing me to frown, but it could've been a lot worse. "It's ok, it's not too badly damaged." I told the bird as I crouched near it, glancing over to it. "You're... A strange bird. There's something different about you, like... You're too smart to be a bird." I explained to it before adding, "What the heck are you? Some sort of science experiment like the apes in Planet Of The Apes???" I had only been joking but, actually, what if I was kind of right?

Ok I had to come clean, I couldn't even laugh as a bird, which kind of sucked. I took a deep breath and focused my energy into changing back human. I brushed my lilac fringe behind my ear. I was sat on the floor from when I changed, so was so I was still level with him. I gulped, not knowing how he'd react to a tiny bird becoming a teenage girl. "You're very talented, I'm glad your work isn't ruined." It was a shame that it was still a little bit damaged, but luckily not too much. My social awkwardness was still present of course as I realised I hadn't introduced myself, I hadn't even said hello! I had spent so much time alone and as animals I had forgotten what human interaction was like. "Sorry, erm, hi! I'm Juilet."

Okay so he wanted me to join him anyway just for the sake of company. Honestly, I wanted to go inside. Why the hell do I get stuck like this sometimes? Damn. No way to get outta it now "I'm surprised you think i'm cool. not many people dont." turning her back to him, she started to walk away "Better start working or i'll be leaving without you." now where was this dumb shed? I started to make my way to the back of the Mansion. Maybe it was a shed not too far from the pool. Of course how would the owner keep his pool nice and clean?

Okay well now I could sense anger. Great. Thought she had been bored before? Oh. Now I get it. She was bored of me. To her I was probably just some other guy who will eventually make the list of people she doesn't like. I wanted to roll my eyes, but I restrained. "You know, you don't have to come with me, I'm sure you have better things to do, I'll be able to find it myself, can't miss a shed, I'm sure." And here I was, once again letting people get away from me. I was probably better on my own anyway. I mean I'd probably still stay at this place, but not for long, I wanted to keep moving.

Oh now he wanted me to go? Know what, no, I'm staying. "I'm not going. I'm here right now so might as well help you while i'm still dressed." I looked over my shoulder and at him "I'm just letting you know, even though you can sense my emotions, dont think you could read my mind. Besides I have nothing to do right now." nowhere to go either. No boyfriend to snuggle up to. Why does the life of a vampire suck? Turning my head back to look ahead, I scanned the area, my eyes scanning over the pool and spotting a shed. But I doubt that had any tools but stuff for the pool. Worth a shot though. I jogged over to see what was inside.

The bird suddenly transformed into a girl and within seconds I had put distance between us, my breaths coming out faster as my heart pounded against my chest. "Y-You're- You're a-" 'Hmm... An interesting plot twist.' There was a chuckle from Calvador, causing my pulse to climb at the thought of what he'd do to this girl. "N-No, no hurting her!" I begged the demon, probably looking even more insane to this Juliet girl than I already appeared. "Please don't- No more hurting people!" [i]'Very well, I'll spare her... For now.' Came the response and I could only let out the slightest sigh of relief at that. My heart slowed, but the tension in my body didn't ease as I looked across the way at the lilac-haired girl. "S-Sorry. I'm Logan. Hi." I responded shakily, still worried about what the demon would do. I just wish I hadn't left the sketchbook near her. Now what did I do? Did I just wait until she left? I couldn't close the distance to grab the sketchbook, so, yeah, I'd probably have to wait it out...

Hmm so she was lonely... It was only a small amount of time that I could feel that, and not because she went ahead of me yet again. "I know I can't read your mind." I shrugged, only having that much to say on the matter. I followed her and peeked inside the shed, most of it looked worthless to me... Not as in it didn't have any worth, but like it would be helpful to me. But then I saw a toolbox just tucked away in the corner. I walked inside, pushing aside any cobwebs I came by near the box. I looked inside and started to grin. "Awesome! All sorts of stuff in here!" I picked it up and brought it out before crouching down to open it, finding the right tools I needed, and once I did I started to loosen the bolt connecting the trucks to the deck.

I tilted my head as he talked to no one, like he had done before. Maybe he was battling with a voice inside his head? Some kind of mental illness perhaps? I watched him and eventually he let out a sigh, of relief by the sounds of it. I smiled a little, glad he wasn't as tense now... Well, he was still kind of tense. In the hurry to get away from me he had left his sketchbook. I wanted to look through it so badly, but I didn't feel as if I had that right yet, and didn't dare to ask. I stood up as he mentioned his name. Logan. I'd never met anyone named Logan, yet the name seemed to ring a bell in my head. I picked up the notebook and gently wiped away the small bit of dirt it had regained before walking over to him and holding it out. "You have a bit of a habit for dropping this, don't you think."

I flinched a little as she moved closer, still on edge just in case Calvador changed his mind all of a sudden. She was teasing me about dropping my book, though - at least, I think she was - and I let out a laugh at that, even if it was tiny, no more than a 'Haha'. "Yeah, I, uh, yeah." 'Excellent social skills.' my demon muttered sarcastically, to which I tried to think up something else to say. "Uhh, I-I'm just clumsy, I guess..." Nope, not good enough. Think, Logan, think! "... N-Nice hair, by the way."I added as I took the sketchbook from her. Ugh, kill me now. Save me from further embarrassment and save this poor, sweet girl from the monster I had to share my body with. I didn't want her to become his next victim; I didn't want anyone to become his next victim!

I didn't think that there was anyone as bad as me at socialising, but I might have met my match. As he mentioned my hair I brushed it back a little, it was a bit of a mess since I hadn't brushed it in a little while from being animals and I wasn't quite sure if he was being sarcastic or not, but he sounded genuine. "Thanks," I muttered, feeling a little self conscious. I had always liked to experiment with it, especially this past year. "Um... I don't know what's... Scaring you, whether it's the fact I've just changed from a bird or whether you have some kind of voice in your head, I mean that would explain the talking to yourself, but I'm not going to hurt you or anything. I promise." See, he and I were on different levels of awkwardness. I couldn't stop talking and he could hardly seem to start.

Clearly this boy had better eyes than me. Probably because he wanted the tools so bad that it just popped out to him. At least he got what he wanted and in a matter of seconds "Got everything you need?" I asked as I walked over and stood by his side, leaning down slightly and watching him with my hands in my jacket pockets "Dont need vampire strength to take the bolts off?" I teased, grinning as I waited for him to reply. Hey, I might have been a b**** but I was still pretty chill

"In all honesty, that didn't even come to mind." I laughed a little as I continued to get them off of the deck. "Besides, might damage them and these are good quality. Don't come by these everyday." I laughed a little, knowing that they really weren't. The wheels and trucks were, but the bolts were just some that I had found lying about, but they've been pretty good for me so far, even if they were a bit mismatched. "So tell me more about vampires. Clearly you don't actually burn in daylight, but what about that whole 'ability to read minds' and stuff."

"I dont read minds actually. I see dead people. And it hurts like a motherF*****. Feels like someone dropped an anvil on my brain. Which you do not want to feel by the way." he's lucky he didnt have to see dead people like I did. Everytime I walked into a hospital, there was everyone who died there. And they pressured my head to death "We do get hurt by stakes, garlic, sunlight and running water doesnt work on us either. We have speed and strength..Nothing really special."

"Yeah, everything about death and dead people sucks. I can feel it when someone's going to die. It horrible... And there's nothing you can do about it, they wouldn't believe you. They'd call you crazy. It's just awful. You don't know how, and then one day you'll see, read, hear about it. But you knew it was already coming... I couldn't imagine having to see dead people. "But you've confused me... Which hurts you and which doesn't? I'm guessing stakes hurt cause that's the first one you mentioned, but what about the rest?" I had gone a little bit off topic, so I was trying to get the attention away from me, I didn't want to think about that man. I knew I couldn't forget it, and it's happened a couple of times since, but I didn't stick around to find out what happened to them. I know what happened to them. I just don't want to believe it.

Well that sucked. He actually felt when someone was about to die. I mean, I rather have that than have to run into dead people and feel like my head is going to explode. But before I could ask anything or say anything, he continued with asking about how my species worked "Stakes hurt, yeah. the rest deosnt work on us. Thats what I meant, sorry, I was just thinking and talking at the same time." so I really didnt focus on what the hell I was saying

"Oh believe me, I know what that's like, I do it myself quite a lot actually." I laughed a little. "I've heard of garlic and sunlight, but never running water, that's an interesting one. But super speed and strength sounds pretty awesome. I mean it's gotta come in handy a fair bit, right?" I had almost finished with the board, having taken one of the trucks off already, I was on the last bolt. I was still deciding whether to make my own deck or to save up for one... I think I might try and make one, then if that fails I'll save uo for a new one. Good plan. "Um, if you don't mind me asking... How did you actually become a vampire?"

"The speed and strength? Yeah it comes in handy and it's surprisingly easy to control. You wouldnt think so but it is." when he asked about how I became a vampire, I couldnt help but get annoyed at the fact because I still didnt know who changed me and how. "I woke up one morning and I was a vampire. I was freaking the hell out that day." I shook my head and stood back up straight "I still dont know who changed me and why., And the whole dead people thing is caused by this thing called "Shadow Kissed" other than that I have no other information."

Wait, she thought that I was scared of her? Either that or I had a voice in my head. Well at least she was right about one theory. "Yeah, that's why I'm- I-I mean, not the thing about you turning into a bird - that's not scary, that's cool - but the thing about me hearing a voice, b-but I'm not crazy, I just..." I bit my lip, debating whether or not to tell this girl. Well, she was a bird that turned into a human, so maybe something supernatural wouldn't shock her. Taking a deep breath, I spoke up. "I- Ever since I was born, I've had a demon inside my head. A-And he's very dangerous and sometimes takes control of my body and hurt people, and I was just scared that, you know, he was going to hurt you... I'm not crazy, I swear." That probably did nothing to convince her of my sanity. Great! This day was already horrible enough, and now I had probably made this girl think I needed a straight jacket or something!

I had heard a lot of crazy things, and also a lot about the supernatural, I had read of demons, and how they could take different forms, but I had never heard of a boy being born with one, and that it could take over his body and hurt people... That scared me. I could understand now why he wanted to move away from me. It made a lot more sense to me now, why he made a distance between us. Why he was travelling alone. I wonder if he had ever had many friends, or whether the demon had made it too difficult for him to make any. Or worse, made Logan fear making friends and just being around people when there was a beast inside of him that could over take and control him. It was then that I realised I'd gone completely silent. "Well that sucks." Was all I could manage to say. I tried to speak up some more, and see the positives at the moment, which was difficult for my pessimistic nature. "Well I mean you seemed to have persuaded it to stop for now, I mean, at least he or she hasn't taken over now."

"At least you can kind of control your powers." I laughed, wondering if there was a way that I could control my own, try to stop feeling other peoples emotions without meaning to. Or a way to maximise my powers. The death one is still fairly new, so perhaps there are still things I have yet to learn about myself, I just have to try and figure out a way to do it. I put the trucks in my bag along with the bolts, I had a small bag just for those, and there were some spares which I always kept handy. "So tell me, Roje, are you any good at games?" I did used to be, before I left home for good. Believe it or not I used to have a really good friend, Georgia. We would always play video games together, I miss those days. She was similar to me in a way, not exactly a complete problem child like me, but not exactly heaven sent either.

"I wouldnt necessarily say that i'm good at games. I dont play many games but I do play them when I feel like i'm in the mood for them." I wasnt a whole big fan on gaming. But I was willing to join if someone was wanting to play with someone else. "I'm more of a club person or just someone to walk out in the woods. The woods really dont scare me since I'm the one who should be feared." one of the perks to being a vampire, you scare things off easily.

She was silent for a long while, which made me worried that she wasn't going to believe me, but then she said that it sucked and I couldn't help but laugh a little more because it was such an understatement! But then she tried looking on the bright side and I shook my head. "It's a he, and you don't- Don't feel pressured into trying to look at the positives, ok? There aren't any, it's horrible, and I... I've gotten used to that." I explained to Juliet, tucking my sketchbook under my arm and shoving my hands in my pockets. An awkward silence fell and I bit my lip, unsure of what to say; she'd probably want to run away now, anyway, and it'd be safer if she did. But the demon wasn't going to let me give her the opportunity to escape, it seemed. 'This silence is infuriating! SPEAK, BOY!!!' I flinched a little, instantly saying the first thing that came to mind because I was worried about the consequences if I didn't obey Calvador. "S-So, what are you doing out here, Juliet? I mean, you know, besides being a bird?"

"Really? You didn't strike me as a club person." I'd never been to one myself, but I'd met a few people on a late night leaving from them. Or at least leaving from one to go to another. They often went in groups, but Roje seemed more of a solitary person, a little like myself. I shouldn't be assuming these kinds of things, I had only just met her after all, but I guess that's just human nature. "Well, maybe we can play video games another time, when you're actually in the mood for them." I laughed a little. Besides I had a board to make. "There wasn't a saw or anything in the shed, was there?" I couldn't seem to find one in here, not a decent one anyway. I still wasn't quite sure how I was going to make a deck yet, but I had a rough idea. Find a fallen tree and make a rough shaped deck out of it. I could sand it down - I always had a bit of sandpaper in my bag as well, actually - and then attach the trucks and voila! New skateboard!

"Just exploring." I answered briefly with a shrug, which was true, I was constantly exploring and learning about the world. I was happy to have found the mansion, so maybe I could do a little less exploring and a little more living. "Does he have a name?" I asked, I hate to admit it but I was just growing more and more curious about his demon, that he had inside him and of all the questions running through my mind, a name was the first one I could think of? Wow, I could have asked something so much better, but nope! I was happy that he had let out little bit of a laugh, one that sounded more real than the nervous one before, and I couldn't help but smile a little. "And since he's been there since you were born, has he like, grown with you? Or has he always been as strong as he is now?" Now that was a slightly better question, badly worded on my part, but I'm sure he understood what I meant. Hopefully.

I shook my head "I didnt see much tools in there to begin with. You were even lucky to find that box." turning back to the Shed, I scanned it from where I was standing "The stuff looks mostly for the pool." Then an Idea popped into my head "Do you really need a saw when I'm right here?" Looking back at Tai, I raised my eyebrow "I am a vampire with super strength you know." How come he wanted to do it the human way when I was right here!? Man, so much for being a help if he didnt ask me to do something impossible for a human. (using bare hands)
