"I will!" Kiara assured Lilly, letting go and running back over to daddy.

I pushed off of the wall and placed Kiara on my back once more. With a "See ya!" I walked out of the house, closing the door behind me. Good, now no one could see me frown. I wiped away the fake smile and replaced it with my frown. I could have sworn that my eyes were a little wet too, but that was impossible, right? I mean, I hadn't cried in almost 5 years, I couldn't just suddenly become a wreck over one little thing... Right?

When I returned to my room at the mansion, I put Kiara down and then flopped face-first onto my bed, a wave of depression crashing over me that was so strong that I couldn't even hide it from Kiara.

"D-Daddy?" Kiara asked, worried by her daddy's sudden sadness. When she got no answer, the little vampire witch clambered onto the bed next to Joe and lay next to him, constantly watching him for changes in his mood, hopefully changes for the better.
